Newgrange Directions

All access to the monuments at Newgrange and Knowth is through the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre 2km west of Donore village on the south side of the River Boyne. (GPS Co-Ordinates: N53.694567 W6.4463) Visitors are brought by shuttle bus to and from the sites. Access is by guided tour only with limited places on each tour. There is no direct access to the Newgrange or Knowth, follow the signs for Brú na Bóinne - Newgrange Monument.

From Dublin via the M1 Motorway

Boyne Valley ToursTake the M1 north and exit at junction 9 (second exit after the toll). This is signed for Donore and Brú na Bóinne. Go through the village of Donore and the Visitor Centre is 2km past the village on the right hand side.

From Dublin via the M2 Motorway

Take the M2 north to Ashbourne. Take the N2 north towards Slane. Turn right about 2km south of Slane. Follow signs for Brú na Bóinne (Newgrange).

M1 Motorway from the North

Take the M1 heading south. Take the first exit after the Boyne Cable Bridge. This is signed for Donore and Brú na Bóinne. Go through the village of Donore and the Visitor Centre is 2km past the village on the right hand side.

From Navan

Take the N51 to Slane. In Slane, turn right towards Dublin on the N2. Take the second turn left. Follow signs for Brú na Bóinne (Newgrange).

From Drogheda

Take the Donore Road from the Bus Station which is located just off the N1 on the south side of the River Boyne. Travel 7km to the village of Donore, the visitor centre is 2km past the village on the right hand side.

From Trim

Take the R161 to Navan. Follow directions from Navan to Slane. In Slane, turn right towards Dublin on the N2. Take the second turn left. Follow signs for Brú na Bóinne (Newgrange).
